Let there be light!

We had a big day yesterday! We had a ton of lights put in and Jon dislocated his shoulder skydiving. Jon’s ok- they got his shoulder back in place at the hospital and is now in some pain, but will pull through. The lights are FANTASTIC! Wow- they make such a difference! Totally worth it in the end.

DC

This last week was pretty busy. I flew into California for a quick work trip on Friday. Then on Sunday I flew out to DC for some training. I got to catch up with my best friend Tammy- yay! We wandered around Alexandria, saw a fairly substantial cat in a window, and got some great lebanese food.

**yes- the cat IS watching you**

Later on in the week, I got some free time and headed out to see the Washington monuments with my coworkers that came to the training.

**The Jefferson Monument at night**

I also went through my company’s new biometric screening. The most important takeaway is that I am 5’6″!! There is no longer a half inch I hope my health care providers will recognize. This also gives me confidence that my youngest sister will not surpass me in height. holla! Now it’s just a question of when I should get my drivers license upodated….

**It’s official!!**

Now that I am back in town, Jon and I started to tackle the trim job remaining. Soon it will be all over!!

**Soon this will be finished**

Here we come!

It’s official- we are going to Rome this summer!!! Before you know it you will be enjoying pictures of us, in front of this:

**yay!**

and we will drink lots of wine. holla!

Yard work for the win!

I got at all my errands today. I finished mowing the front and backyard, and got the mulch in the parking strip. I did have to head back to Home Depot and pick up 7 bags of mulch to finish the job. As I was walking back to my car, a home depot guy asked if I needed help. I told him I didn’t- he came and found me, and looked a little surprised to see I already had 6/7 bags loaded. He picked up the last bag, and I reached out to take it from him, and he said- oh you take it? It made me feel like really strong. I think all the years of remodeling with Jon have toughened me up, and Crossfit. A bag of mulch isn’t so intimidating when you’ve ran with 35 pound sandbags on your shoulder.

**ta-da!**

Now I just need to figure out some bulbs, or plants to brighten up the parking strip. I’m also building up to mulch a few other areas.

My leg is doing better today, the infection has gone down a bit. I think I might take out the packing gauze tomorrow. This shit is still so crazy, and really freaks me out when I look at it. I’m hoping it heals up real quick!!

Super infection fail…

So my infection spread. I went back to Instacare last night, and the doc said- so, that’s not a bite. That’s a staph infection. We are going to need to lyse open your wound, push out all theĀ  pus and pack it was gauze. I asked him if there was a little pill that I could take that would make it all go away. He said no, so we went through with plan 1. :( The doc injected lidocaine into my infection and I have never felt pain like that before. My leg was bruised from all the pushing he did to get crap out. Apparently, this bacteria can follow a hair follicle down and do this sort of craziness. There is nothing you can do to prevent it. I am just hoping it heals soon because it hurts to walk now. :( AND I am hoping this never happens ever again!!

On a happier note, all the plants I put in last week are doing healthy. I also finished mulching the area around the hops, and getting the grapes trimmed up. The plan for the weekend is to mow the lawn! and maybe get mulch in around the front tree.

**garden gnome says good job squash!**

Infection for the FAIL.

I found this bite on Saturday morning on my calf, and then somehow it got infected. :( My theory is that a spider was upset that I was pulling out dandelions on Friday night and decided to take matters into his own mouth. One instacare visit, along with 10 days of antibiotics and I am hopefully on the mend. Sadly, I can’t really run :( or do my go-get-em workouts :( . I’m hoping it gets better soon!! The doc said that the inflammation should stop spreading after Wednesday.

On a happy note, Jon and I planted our spring crop. Here’s to some healthy tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, squashes, jalapenos, and cantelope! We already have apricots growing, and it looks like a lot of apples are on the way.

Paleo Dinner

I was really happy tonight when Jon said the dinner I made was “really good”! I’d like to think I’ve come a ways from when I made “pizza fish” in January. I took a cooking class, which was fun, came home and proclaimed- ” Jon- it’s a miracle- I can cook!”. I think I am finally making some progress. Tonight I boiled some brussel spouts and then cooked up some salmon (put some olive oil, lemon juice, and salmon seasoning on top)- it worked out well! I am on day 9 of my Paleo run and am feeling really good.

**yay!!*

The ants have also been doing well. Check it out-

**clearly trying to get to the center of the Earth**

We also decided to hire some nice men to finish up our stagnant remodeling projects. I am hoping that we will find someone good and cheap!

AND- I signed up for a half marathon in 5 weeks! Yikes! I am planning on running 5 miles tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Paleo cooking for the win!

I am a week into clean Paleo eating (minus my coffee creamer in the morning), and am feeling good. I have started cooking a lot more, and stumbled across a Paleo win tonight using spaghetti squash and gluten free spaghetti sauce, add in some beef, onions, mushrooms, garlic, and some chili powder and you get a very yummy fulfilling meal.

**check it out!!**

The coolest thing ever!

I’ve been a little stressed lately, so Jon surprised me with a trip to the Clark Planetarium. He got me the coolest gift ever! an ANT farm!! see for yourself!

**the little diggers at work**

The Clark Planetarium has a lot of cool things to see, but one thing kind of creeped me out….

**the harry potter creeper**

Rocky also has been doing well. We have been doing better too since we learned we could buy his cancer meds online for much cheaper! Our vet decided he would match the price, saving us almost $350 per year.

**Meet Rocky’s little friend**

I have also started Crossfit and am embarking on the Paleo life (meat, nuts, veggies, fruits). I have a feeling I could get very fit from it!

Rocky Likes Socks!

Last night, we noticed something unusual- Rocky had one of Jon’s socks…..

**sock 1**

We took the sock from Rocky, and went to bed shortly after. This morning we were in the office again, and noticed Rocky had a sock again.

**sock 2**

Now we are trying to decide if Rocky likes socks or just the smell of Jon’s feet….
